For each innovation initiative we need to consider different parameters and elements. Each initiative has a set of target audience (our people & our teams), different objectives to meet and server. We need to deal with each initiative as a product which we need to communicate, promote and reach the required adoption and engagement from its target group of people. Each initiative needs its own well designed experience and process. As we are targeting to launch an innovation initiative, we need to be the role model when it comes to user/customer/team member experience all over the life cycle of the initiative. The initiative needs to be a true user centric, considering all types of stakeholders and audience. To be able to achieve this, we need to have in place the proper platforms, tools, methods and activities. The initiative goals, targets, objectives, KPIs and definition of success must be designed, agreed upon and clearly communicated to all stakeholders as early as possible. Finally proper resources, budgets and participants time allocations must be calculated, approved and be in place in a clear and transparent manner.
The innovation initiative design canvas is a trial to structure, quantify and visualize all the elements needed for the success of the initiative in a single place. It is a tool which can be customized and tailored according to the nature of the initiative and the objectives behind it. The most important thing is to guarantee that all elements are covered, considered and planned ahead.
