Enterprise Innovation I4 Approach linked to Innovation Fostering Centric to Innovation Initiatives Interactive Design Canvas spaces

Description

The 4I (Inspire, Ideate, Implement and Impact) approach summarizes the main concepts for the enterprise innovation fostering strategy through the linkage of ...the innovation fostering people centric approach and the enterprise innovation interactive initiative design canvas spaces.

Goals

Grasping the full potential of our people talent and competencies is the corner stone for fostering the innovation culture within an enterprise.

The 4I approach is designed to support the design of a human centric enterprise innovaion management initiatives. The approach is linking both the innovation fostering people centric approach, the enterprise innovation interactive initiative design canvas spaces and our understanding of the different team persona’s categorized in the team inventiveness persona distribution curve.

The main goal is to guarantee that all the needed pre-requisites are in place at the proper time. This is done through linking the 4I four main pillars with the different enterprise innovation space as follows:

  • Inspire is linked to the Seeding Space. Inspire is the result of human desirability combined with Business Viability.
  • Ideate is linked to the Get Space. Ideate is the result of human desirability combined with Technical Feasibility.
  • Implement is linked to Build Space. Implement is the result of Business Viability combined with Technical Feasibility.
  • Impact is linked to Impact Space. Impact represent the total sum of the output from the three space (Seeding Space, Get Space and Build Space)

How to Use

The inspire phase can be mapped directly to the seeding space in the interactive innovation initiative design canvas. The seed space, includes all process, policies and initiatives that inspire & support the ideation seeding process. It is considered as inspiring, preparing, supporting & structuring space. Also it includes some of the required prerequisites. The output of this space is information, insights, knowledge, expertise, exposure and means of formulating organization internal & external intelligence and road-maps.
The Ideate phase can be mapped directly to the Get space in the interactive innovation initiative design canvas. Get Space, includes all process, policies and initiatives that generate ideas and support the organization ideation process. It is considered as idea production space. The output of this space is ideas that are structured, sorted, analyzed, evaluated and ready to be placed in the organization ideas funnel/pipeline.
The implement phase can be mapped directly to the build space in the interactive innovation initiative design canvas. Build Space, includes all process, policies and initiatives that aim to realize and implement the selected ideas from the ideas. It is considered as the realization space or the prototyping space. The output of this space is IPs, published papers, POCs- proof of concepts, mockups, simulations and working models. Implementation which realize ideas in different maturity stages. The desire is to reach a quick customer feedback and validation.
The Impact phase can be mapped directly to the Grow space in the interactive innovation initiative design canvas. Grow Space, includes all process, policies and initiatives that aim to grow the output of the build space and reach the desired impact. It is considered as the acceleration space. The output of this space is MVP- minimum viable product, BD- business model, pre-commercialized version, initial customers acquisition/adoption and/or internal/external fund allocation.

To reach the maximum result, we need to consider the Enterprise Team Inventiveness Persona. With a special focus on Geeks, Researchers and Multipotential personas motive understanding. So we need to consider that such personalities are looking for: • Challenges • Self-esteem • Realization of Dream • Opportunity to Implement Own Ideas • Prove Self Capabilities • Recognition & Reward • Appreciation & Support • Encouragement & Support • Culture of Accepting Failure
To reach the maximum result, we need to consider the availability the following factors: • Open platform for all ideas • Spreading the culture that there is No Bad Idea\ • Supporting the culture of Accepting Failure • Providing transparent and accurate evaluation mechanism • Separating idea evaluation from team members anonymously • Clear and consistent communication for the evaluation mechanism • Supporting in team brainstorming and cooperation through self organization
To reach the maximum result, we need to consider the availability and implementation of the following: • Team to include diversified discipline • Supporting multi-site diversified team formulation in case of global operations • Fast Prototyping Methodology • Availability of Equipment and lean purchase process • Guidance, best practices and mentorship network establishment • Develop POCs and Prototypes through Acceleration like environment • Early customer validation (Go Out of the building mind set) • User centric, design thinking approach and focusing on user experience • Design the education and competency increase means and experience • Commitment to take competitive ideas to next level (patenting and new product development) • Recognition of success and creation of enterprise wide role models • Delivery to your teams more than what you have promised
To reach the maximum result, we need to consider designing a robust, nonambiguise and clear enterprise innovation KPIs, targets and measure. Such KPIs and targets needs to cover the innovation 360 perspectives, including: • Internal Cultural Fostering engagement and participation level Output of the internal fostering strategy in a tangible form including number of ideas, number of generated patents, number of POCs, published papers and so on. • Innovation output in the form of newly offered products, services and differentiation factors including new production capabilities, design to cost and better pricing and/or profitability, quality differentiation capabilities and/or production capacity and/or delivery time. • Innovation Economical impact measures must be set which may include % of new product development compared to total sales or order intake. % of profit margin increase, market share increase and also existing customer share of wallet must be considered.
